These beautiful wood tiles show off iconic Ethiopian art, featuring angels, eyes, stars, and moons. Each tile has a small drilled hole in the wood and a string of thread for hanging. These were purchased in an artisan shop in Addis Ababa. These are absolutely a new favorite! (These remind us of the goatskin art, but with a different media – wood!)
This tile is the face of a holy man (perhaps God) with Ge’ez. The red words say “በስመአብ ወወልድ ወመንፈስ ቅዱስ አሃዱ አምላክ አሜን” meaning “In the name of God: Father Son and Holy Spirit, Amen!” The remaining text references the Holy Cross.
Buy one, or buy a set! We have 20 total, and we don’t expect to have any more in 2021.
Note: every tile is epoxied for no smudging. Also, some pieces hang on the horizontal and others on the vertical. Please check images to confirm your selection!
